Senior Specialist – Inside Sales (Sales Support) - JAPAN

  • Collect and analyse Inside Sales statistics (sales rates, costs, trade customer service metrics etc.)
  • Train and onboard new Inside Sales agents as required to meet quotas.
  • Provide coaching and assistance to Inside Sales agents on an ongoing basis.
  • Process weekly sales leads reports for submission to General Manager Japan.
  • Oversee, assist, and ensure conflict resolution between travel agents and customers.
  • Ensure that all Inside Sales agents follow the company’s best practices Inside Sales operations.
  • Develop presentations and talks to motivate and educate Inside Sales agents.
  • Communicate departmental goals to Inside Sales agents, so everyone understands his or her roles.
  • Conduct periodic surveys of trade customers and potential customers to ensure quality control.
  • Work with Japan and HQ Sales, Marketing, and PR team to leverage B2B, sales opportunities.
  • Work within team to achieve performance standards and revenue targets.
  • Maximize revenue and LF by reviewing status daily.
  • Follows the RM Strategy and business rules according to SOP.
  • Documents, tracks, monitors incidents to ensure timely resolution.
  • Work with RM to assists with group movement, scheduling changes and inventory control.
  • Communicate availability/close outs to wholesalers.
  • Create bookings and issue tickets on in-house reservation systems according to the company policies and procedures.
  • Provide courteous and prompt response to e-mail, fax, and phone requests for our air-programs information from our trade partners.
  • Aid over the phone and email for the company sales specialists and managers.
  • Process miscellaneous requests including seat assignments, special meals, and email confirmation requests
  • Process airline schedule changes and inform internal and external customers of changes.
  • Process queues with efficiency and accuracy according to department protocol.
  • Process corrections in the in-house systems requested by internal and external customers according to airline and company's policies and procedures within
  • Prepare commercial sales contracts/supplements agents/partners.
  • Prepare monthly and yearly sales report.
  • Monitor all V.I.P.'s, special guests and requests.
  • Investigate and resolve in-house system and GDS bookings and payment discrepancy issues with agents. 
  • Manage corporate signups for B2B portal and manage end to end group quotations to the trade.
  • Maintains positive relationships with agents/partners by providing timely support, information, and guidance, researching and recommending new opportunities, recommending profit and service improvements.
  • Management of ad hoc special sales promotion campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain trade database.

Supporting Function

  • Assist Field Sales with their out of Tokyo sales call responsibilities if and when required by General Manager Japan, i.e., Sapporo.
  • Assist ground and consumer events as well as run contests standalone or with partners.
  • Analyse and report on trade activities/campaigns.
  • Ongoing review of best practice to find new and innovative ways to connect to trade.
  • Bring in ad hoc cash support for campaign/events.
  • Assist in gaining co-operative marketing funds from trade partners.
  • Trade liaison via creating valued and profitable partnerships with travel agents and online distribution channels.
  • Keep up-to-date on competitor/industry information and maintain timely flow of key information to General Manager Japan.
  • Provide input to General Manager Japan on additional opportunities for tactical pricing actions for incremental traffic, as well as marketing opportunities through travel agents, API portals, GDS partners, and Tourism Bodies.
  • Build and maintain relations with GDS and OFC to keep abreast of fare filing requirements and developments.
  • Liaise with ground handlers as commercially and operationally necessary.
  • Build and maintain relations with current and future airports to explore new sales and marketing opportunities.

Required Experience

  • A Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Advanced conflict resolution skills required.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary to meet quotas and guide team.
  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated a successful track record in the technical and functional support of the reservations chain in either a traditional or a low-cost airline.
  • At least 5 years of commercial experience in airline or agency reservations, GDS or distribution sectors, and knowledge of the aviation business is preferable.
  • Industry proven sales/product service support
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision
  • GDS experiences
  • Willingness to travel, as and when required.

Desired Traits

  • Fluent written, spoken and reading capability in English and Japanese as this role will be required to handle the Japanese trade, other foreign languages would be a plus
  • Ability to effectively deal with the trade, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • GDS savvy.
  • High energy, results driven.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated by success but a team player with strong people skills.
  • Ability to work in a busy dynamic and high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience of working with people at all levels.
  • Highly IT literate, preferable good excel skills.
