Senior Specialist, Online Sales (API)

To support and co-ordinate day-to-day activities for sales via the online channel, primary with partners via application programming interface (API).

Key activities focus on meta search agents, online travel agents, aggregators and affiliated partners as well as ongoing project development and developing own sales/technical portfolio of accounts. 

Main Responsibilities

External Commercial API Sales

  • Involve in the overall strategy to push sales via the online distribution channels;
  • Maintain relationships with agents/partners by providing support, information, and guidance; researching and recommending new opportunities; recommending profit, technology and service improvements.
  • To address API issues raised by API partners within 24 hours;
  • Management of ad hoc special sales promotions
  • Work with Sales, Revenue Management, overseas sales team to leverage B2B, sales opportunities
  • Prepare monthly sales reporting
  • Work with Distribution team in resolving booking and discrepancy issues with agent

API Technology Enhancement to push sales

  • Innovate means to improve API channel from a technical point to suit commercial partners’ needs, including but not limiting to system upgrade activities which may bring about enhancements to the channel;
  • Develop availability of ancillary products and work with partners to sell ancillary on partners’ domain for incremental sales;

API Administration

  • Creation and maintenance of API accounts;
  • Prepare commercial sales contracts/supplements agents/partners, and archiving them in accordance with internal directives;

API Channel Stability

  • Managing the optimization of the API channel, both internally and externally by identifying and working with partners to further improve their processes. Eg L2Bs, Session handling, Http Compressions;
  • Ensure API channel up time by 90% per month, excluding time taken for scheduled maintenance and system upgrades;

Internal API Projects

  • As part of the API team to consulate and provide guidance on Commercial API matters faced by internal projects, working with Distribution team in resolving booking and discrepancy issues with agents;
  • Support and provide consultation to Scoot Country Managers, Sales Managers and Appointed General Sales Agents as needed;
  • To meet project timelines as dictated by the project stakeholders;


Essential traits 

  • Min Degree Holder
  • Highly IT literate, good and sound technical knowledge on API

Desirable traits

  • A travel company qualification or relevant travel agency, retail or sales work experience can also be helpful.
  • Highly motivated by success, results-driven with a real energy and drive but a team player with strong people skills
  • Able to understand, formulate and execute actions plan in accordance to the team’s, department’s and company’s strategies and targets.
  • Industry proven sales/product support
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
  • Confident presenting to, collaborating with and negotiating at an executive level.
  • Highly independent, intuitive and autonomous
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and perform under pressure in a fast pace environment.
  • Culturally aware and able to form cooperative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent skills in motivating and influencing internal and external business partners at all levels.
  • Willingness to travel
